Rockefeller Center:  November 30th, 2005

I'm so excited! Something of mine's going on the Boot!! I'm very excited! Okay here's my review. it's kinda got two parts... so, uh yeah:

On tuesday November 30th I went to Rockefeller Center to try and watch the Goos perform Better Days. Unfortunately, I was harassed by the guards and practically thrown out. While I was standing near the exit this guy with staff passes came up to me and asked me if I was okay. I explained to him how the Goo Goo Doll's music saved my life and I'd been trying to see them and I'd been there for hours only to get kicked out. So he asks me for paper and a pen, writes his numebr down and explains that he's the head audio engeneer at the Hard Rock Cafe, and that he'll get me in to see them that thursday!!

So I got in at 6:30, and the concer didn't start till 8. I sat with this chick Laurie who works for Vik (the guy who got me in). We hung out and got to watch the Goos set up and go through the set list and practice. Then we got to stand FRONT AND CENTER. I mean the stage was A FOOT from my face! So they walked out to have a q&a with the radio dude. So I was waiting for my moment to catch their attention, and it came. At the end of the q&a they're putting the chairs away and I lean to the stage and shout "your music saved my life!" and John Rzeznik looks at me and goes "what?" and hands me the mic and I said it again and he just smiled and went "thank you so much" and I just melted. Laurie was making fun of me! So yeah, okay, the first song was Big Machine which was a great starter 'cause it had so much energy. I sang till my voice was gone (by the end of the concert I was almost mute). After big machine was Slide, I think. That was amazing. At the part when he says "I wanna wake up where you are, I won't say anything at all" we all sang the first part and he goes "come on you can do better than that!" so we SCREAM the second part and he goes "that's it!" and then keeps playing <3 it was so great! Then was Smash! YAY ROBBY! He kicked so much ass! he had is hair in dreads, some of 'em were pink and green. He's deffinately lost weight too. Okay so then after smash was, er, Black Balloon, I think. It was so beautiful. Then it was Dizzy which had SO much energy. Then they played Here Is Gone, and THAT was amazing!! I freaked out and was just singing at the top of my lungs, totally off key, all night long. After that was Name (as far as I can remember) and oh my god. I was shaking uncontrollably through the first half and then when he got to "Scars are souvenirs you never lose" I just burst into tears right there. And I WAS UP ON THE MONITOR! meaning EVERYONE saw me crying! (At the end of the concert Vik was like "you cried!!" and the other guy in the elevator was like "I saw her on the monitor!" and I was like *Death*). And before he played he was like "this song is older than most of you" and you could tell he had, like, this somber sort of bittersweet mood but when he started playing and we were singing he deffinately lightened up. It was just so... full of emotion! After name was Broadway and that KICKED ASS!! At the end he goes "I just love that song!" and grinned and had a little convo with the audience about how he's not supposed to say that but we were like "who gives a fuck!" Then they played Sympathy and it was amazing.. just totally amazing! We sang and screamed and god it was just awesome. Next was Better Days. It was beautiful! I started crying again too. Then they left and then came back and played Give A Little Bit (which isn't my favourite song xo; but they were great). Then they left. Uhm, in that time John Rzeznik came towards me and Laurie and I reached out hands up and I actually touched his thigh o___o I was like "EEEEP!!" but yeah, that was cool. Then Vik told me to hang around near the stage so everyone's leaving except me, Laurie and the dude with us (who I think was also named John). Then Vik is like "follow me" so we go up and back around behind stage and he says "I have a present for you" so he hands me the set list! from right off the stage! and then he turns it over and says "I asked your  boy (he had starting calling the Goos my boys) if he could give you a guitar pick, so he gave me two to give to you.." I HAVE TWO OF JOHN RZEZNIK'S GUITAR PICKS!! Then I hung around after outside to try and catch 'em and I got to see Mike!! I ran up to him with a drumstick (Vik had given it to me earlier from back stage) and he signed it! And I told him that I love their music and it saved my life (again, haha) and he smiled and was like "that's awesome!" He was holding my sharpie and couldn't get the cap off so I was like "it's a clickie sharpie *shows him how to do it*" mike: "OH MY GOD! *clickclickclickclick*" me: "o__o;....kay" It was hysterical. It was the best (and hopefully not last) concert I've ever been too and a great first Goo Goo Dolls concert.

sorry for the length!! But it was just so... so amazing!
